Zulu
The Zulus arose in the late 18th century from the hundreds of small clans occupying the northern regions of kwaZulu-Natal on the eastern sea board of South Africa.
The president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma falls under this ethnic group.
Zulus are also known for their love of beads. Different colour beads are worn by young women to represent things such as engagement, wedding, pregnancy, birth of a child, grief, death and many others.
Traditional attire for Zulu men is made of animal skins and feathers; the kind of skins indicates the status of the person wearing them.
The Zulus are also known for their practise of polygamy. This is one of the cultural practises most Zulus are proud of. President Jacob Zuma has been married six times.
